Overview

This half-day training session will cover the appointment of a post holder - from initiation of the process by the Board of Management to the giving of feedback to applicants.

The objectives of the training are:

  • To equip interviewers with the necessary skills to conduct competency-based interviews for middle leadership and management posts
  • To ensure full compliance with Circular 0003/2018
  • To recruit the best candidates
  • To minimise appeals

Training will include the following topics:

  • Role of the Board of Management
  • Advertising
  • Pre-interview preparation
  • Role of the Independent Chairperson
  • Conducting the interview
  • Devising competency-based questions
  • Notetaking
  • Providing feedback
  • The appeal process
  • Pitfalls to avoid

 

Who should attend?

Independent Chairpersons employed by your school, principals and other interviewers nominated by the Board of Management.

This training is not for teachers who are likely to apply for a post.
