VACANCY - Assistant General Secretary  

The Secretariat of Secondary Schools CLG (SSS) is now recruiting for an Assistant General Secretary.  

The SSS is the management body for all Voluntary Secondary Schools in the Republic of Ireland. It exercises this function through its JMB/AMCSS divisions, the Joint Managerial Body, and the Association of Management of Catholic Secondary Schools.    JMB/AMCSS exercises a leadership role at national level in the formulation, development and implementation of policy and represents the voluntary secondary school sector in negotiations on issues which affect leadership and management in schools. JMB/AMCSS also provides support, advice, and professional learning opportunities across a wide range of operational and leadership areas of activity in our member schools.

The Role of the Assistant General Secretary  

The Assistant General Secretary is a senior leadership position within the Joint Managerial Body (JMB). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading the development and implementation of the strategic plan, as well as representing, supporting and guiding the senior leaders and boards of management of voluntary secondary schools in Ireland. The role demands a comprehensive set of skills and attributes to effectively navigate the complexities of curriculum and policy development, school leadership and management advice, together with the strategic leadership of the JMB.

Location:  The Assistant General Secretary will be based in the Secretariat of Secondary Schools at Emmet House, Milltown, Dublin 14 and he/she will have access to a hybrid working model subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.  

Nature of the Post: This is a full-time/permanent position.  It is not a seconded position.  

Salary: Commensurate with experience.  

Hours of Work: The usual working week will be Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.  However, the nature of the role may require attendance at meetings and other activities outside these times.   Applications:  Applications will be accepted by the deadline of Friday, 24th May at 5.00pm.
