The Joint Managerial Body (JMB), which represents the management of almost four hundred voluntary secondary schools, would like to congratulate the Leaving Certificate students who received their results today. John Curtis, the General Secretary of the JMB, states that:
‘In this of all years, we would like to congratulate the Leaving Certificate students who received their results today. We compliment all of the students on their resilience and the manner in which they coped with the extraordinary set of circumstances that made this a Leaving Certificate year like no other. In the midst of all of the challenges and the adversity they faced, these students now have the platform to allow them to move forward to the next chapter of their lives and we wish them every success in this regard.
We know that great work has been done by our school communities in supporting students and parents in what has been such a difficult year. We know, too, that staff will be available to students in schools to assist them in looking at and considering the options that might be available to them. We would urge that those students uncertain or unsure as to how to proceed would seek advice and take what time they need in deciding on their next steps.
We believe that in this country we can be justifiably proud of the young people we have collectively served to educate, and who in so many ways continue to educate us. Again, many congratulations to all those who received their results today, and on this step to the promise of all that is yet to come.’
